ABOUT
Craig Serling is an Emmy-nominated writer, editor and producer who brings a disciplined creative vision and intuitive understanding of human drama to his work.
After receiving a BA in Film and Photographic Arts at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Craig began his career as a documentarian. He gained notoriety for the critically acclaimed documentaries American Heroes, filmed in Bosnia during the siege of Sarajevo, Roseland, chronicling the gentrification of a community—which earned Craig a directing fellowship at the American Film Institute—and Received Damage, about the punk rock band Black Flag, a festival favorite.
Craig has translated his passion for human interest stories and knack for tracking large ensemble storylines into scripted features and television. His first film Jam (2009)—which he wrote and directed—won multiple film festival awards. Jam enjoyed a limited theatrical release and a wide exposure on several premium content providers including Showtime (200+) and multiple Starz TV platforms.
Craig’s editing credits include soft-scripted television institutions from Survivor to The Amazing Race. He has worked for nearly every major network and cable outlet. He served as Supervising Producer on several Discovery Chanel series. Most recently, Craig edited The Zoo, a new series for Animal Planet that premiered Winter 2017.
An active member of the Director’s Guild of America, Craig participates in panels and workshops for young filmmakers, including a semi-annual summer workshop in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York.
